11 March 2015 - Philippine Consul General Jose D.R. Burgos, his spouse Dra. Blesilda Mansilla Burgos, and the officials and staff of the Philippine Consulate General paid a courtesy call on the Governor of North Sulawesi, Dr. Sinyo Harry Sarundajang, on March 06 at the Governor’s residence, in light of Consul General Burgos’ appointment and impending departure from Manado to become the Philippine Ambassador to Brazil on March 19.

During the farewell call, Consul General Burgos recalled the significant support given by the Regional Government of North Sulawesi, and discussed various outstanding projects, including the promotion of regional interconnectivity, such as the resumption of Davao-Manado-Direct Flights and the Davao-General Santos-Tahuna-Bitung (DGTB) Roll-on/Roll-off (RORO) shipping service, which is set to launch in April 2015. The Governor thanked the Consul General for enhancing cooperation in varius sectors, including  education, trade, and culture. The Consul General also discussed developments in the trade, commercial and investment links between the Philippines and North Sulawesi, including Philippine investments in the tuna and canning industries in Bitung City, North Sulawesi.
