11 March 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh conducted its fifth lecture on the West Philippine Sea (WPS) at the International Philippine School in Riyadh (IPSR) on March 02. The lecture was conducted by Vice Consul Red Genotiva.

In attendance were senior-year students from IPSR, their teachers and IPSR Principal, Mrs. Mariam Macabangkit.

In 2012, the Embassy conducted a similar lecture series at Philippine international schools in Riyadh.

During his lecture, Mr. Genotiva highlighted the strategic and policy imperatives for the Philippines as an archipelagic state. He explained to the students the importance of understanding the Philippine government’s position and response in addressing the WPS issue through arbitration, which is an open, friendly, peaceful, and internationally-accepted means to resolve the dispute.

Mr. Genotiva concluded the session by challenging the students to increase and share what they learned at the lecture.

He also thanked the teachers and management of IPSR for graciously hosting the event.

The next lecture on WPS will be held at the Second Philippine International School (SPIS) in Riyadh. END
