21 August 2013 - The Philippine Consulate General officers and staff members in Los Angeles held an HIV/AIDS Awareness Seminar on August 12.

The HIV/Awareness seminar was facilitated by CBA Bio-Medical Prevention Specialist Jordan Blaza and CBA Bio-Medical Prevention Specialist Octavio Vallejo M.D., MPH of the AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA).  

The seminar provided a general overview as well as useful information on transmission, testing and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases and infections (STIs, STDs), HIV and AIDS, and improving relations with affected individuals.

The seminar hopes to increase the HIV/AIDS knowledge among personnel of the Consulate to better serve people seeking Consulate services who are infected or affected by HIV/AIDS, and aims to complement capacity building programs undertaken by the Consulate on new transnational challenges by foreign service personnel at Post.
