26 March 2015 – Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Nestor Z. Ochoa, together with his wife Madame Mayie E. Ochoa, led the various Filipino groups in Brunei in celebrating the 31st Brunei National Day held at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saiffuddien on February 23.
One hundred eighty-four (184) Filipinos coming from various organizations under the umbrella of Filipino Association in Brunei (FAB) joined the parade wearing kimona and barong tagalong. The ‘Generasi Berwawasan’ (Generation with a Vision) -themed event saw a total of 25,000 participants from 125 different government agencies, private sector companies, secondary schools, higher education institutions, and different associations patriotically waving the national flag as they marched past the Royal Dais.
In histitah, His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, urged the people of Brunei to be prudent, especially considering the situation of the current global economy.His Majesty also talked about safety and stability of the country, as well as peace, which would ensure investor confidence in Brunei.
The main highlight of the ceremony was the field performance done by a total of 7,900 youths who represented various secondary schools, colleges and higher education institutions. The field performance ended with every performer and participant of the 31st National Day uniting on the field. END
