26 March 2015 – The Philippine Embassy in Damascus celebrated the 2015 Women’s Month through a kick off program attended by 62 Filipino nationals, followed by a cooking demo held at the Chancery on March 22.
Charge d’ Affaires (CDA), Nestor N. Padalhin delivered an inspiration message during the kick off program that emphasized on the significance of the Women’s Month celebration. CDA Padalhin conveyed to the participants the theme of the women’s month celebration, the Philippine legal mandates which provide for the need to celebrate the said event, and the relevance of the celebration to OFWs particularly household service workers (HSWs). He encouraged the participants to aspire for more and be role models in their chosen fields.
CDA Padalhin also mentioned to the Filipino community in Syria that the Philippine Embassy is always ready to assist Filipino nationals who intend to avail of the on-going Mandatory Repatriation Program of the Philippine government.
After the opening program, the participants proceeded to the Embassy’s AGR Center located in the Embassy’s ground floor for the Cooking Demo on Japanese Cuisine. After the demo, the participants were divided into four groups for the simulation cooking exercise. The food was shared among all the participants. END
