27 March 2015 – Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Maria Lumen B. Isleta and other Embassy officials were in Surabaya on March 21 to attend the Family Day Celebration of the Filipino Community (FILCOMIN) in Surabaya and to provide consular and voter registration services as part of the Embassy’s outreach activities in Indonesia.

Ambassador Isleta commended FILCOMIN for its role in helping Filipinos in Surabaya to unite and come together to undertake productive endeavors.

She also reminded the Filipinos of the on-going voter registration and encouraged them to exercise their right to vote in the coming elections by registering as voters.

The Filipino Community group in Surabaya (FILCOMIN) was established in 1990. It has a membership of around 200 Filipinos who are engaged in various professions.

The Family Day Celebration is the first of three main events celebrated by FILCOMIN annually, the others being Independence Day and Christmas. END
