new delhi tour

07 April 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in New Delhi attended the opening of the “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” booth at the Select City Walk Mall in Saket on March 24.

A project of the Philippines Tourism Marketing Office in India, the tourism information booth was situated in Saket District, which is fast becoming the “Mall Hub” of India.  Account Director Navritu Rai explained that the foot traffic at the mall’s atrium would ensure maximum exposure of the Philippines tourism campaign, reaching out to both families and up market young travelers.

The information booth was up for two weeks and attracted the local media that interviewed passersby who gave positive reviews.

Setting up the booth was part of the drive to market the Philippines as a tourism destination for Indian nationals. On January 29, Philippine Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez conducted a bustling one-day visit to New Delhi as a springboard for the Asian launching of the Visit the Philippines Year 2015.

Secretary Jimenez attended the South Asia Travel and Tourism Exhibition (SATTE), South Asia’s leading travel show which gathered more than 750 Indian and international exhibitors, 35 countries, airlines, hotels, Destination Management Companies (DMCs), cruise liners and media under one roof.

While making a strong pitch for the Philippines as a destination tailor-made for Indians, Secretary Jimenez said, “It gives me a great pleasure to invite you this year in particular to the Philippines because this year has been declared as the ‘Visit the Philippines Year 2015.’ I urge you to look very closely at what we have to offer. We hope to transform tourism to primary seven units for the Philippines that can help create new jobs and opportunities.”

After meeting with his Indian counterpart, Tourism Minister Dr. Mahesh Sharma at the Ministry of Tourism, Secretary Jimenez formally opened the Visit the Philippines Year 2015 at the grounds of the Embassy of the Philippines in New Delhi. The event was attended by 200 officials and travel agents.  Secretary Jimenez announced that 50 taxis with It’s More Fun in the Philippines posters would be circulating New Delhi for the entire year.  The event culminated with a fireworks display.
