06 April 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) joined the nation in commemorating the 2015 Women’s Month with the theme “Juana Desisyon Mo ay Mahalaga sa Kinabukasan ng Bawat Isa, Ikaw Na!” on March 29.

Some 80 Filipinos from the community attended the event. Atty. Barney Almazar of Gulf Law Consultancy conducted a free lecture on UAE laws related to women. Maternity leave, employment benefits, women’s rights and other related matters concerning women were also discussed. The lecture benefitted Filipino women who were currently working or residing in the UAE by increasing their awareness of their rights.

The event included a film showing of “Huling Biyahe,” which was recommended by the Film Development Council of the Philippines.

After the program, the Philippine Embassy personnel shared a light dinner with the Filipino community guests. END
