10 April 2015 – In recognition of his dedication and service to the Philippine School Doha (PSD), PSD faculty, staff and members of its Board of Trustees organized a farewell party for Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Crescente R. Relacion on March 29 at the PSD Auditorium.
The Ambassador was specifically cited for his role in initiating the process for the establishment of a new PSD building in Abu Hamour, Doha in a continued commitment to assist in providing for the educational needs of the children of the burgeoning Filipino population in Qatar. While the bidding process for the construction has recently started, it is expected that the new school building will be finished in two years.
Aside from creative presentations from PSD expressing their appreciation for Ambassador Relacion’s efforts, PSD Principal Dr. Alexander Acosta unveiled a framed collage of Ambassador Relacion’s pictures that summarized his more than 5 years of service to the Filipino community in Qatar.
Ambassador Relacion was accompanied by his wife, Naomi Loing Relacion, and their son, David Jonathan. First Secretary and Consul Gonaranao B. Musor and his wife Shayma Carim-Musor, as well as Third Secretary and Vice Consul Kristine F. Bautista and outgoing Cultural Officer and Attaché Richard T. Billedo also attended the event.
“Thank you for this thoughtful gesture, but I am simply doing my job as a civil servant,” Ambassador Relacion said.
Established in 1992, PSD is a community school run independently by a Board of Trustees, which includes a Philippine Embassy representative (currently held by Vice Consul Bautista). END
