10 April 2015 – Philippine Ambassador to Argentina Ma. Amelita C. Aquino was the guest speaker at the conference series “Countries and their Economies” of the College of Economic Sciences of the National University of Lomas de Zamora in the province of Buenos Aires on April 07.
The college’s dean, Gabriel Franchignoni, and other officials of the university received Ambassador Aquino and briefly exchanged views on the relations between the Philippines and Argentina.
Ambassador Aquino gave her presentation “Getting to Know the Philippines: The Gateway to Southeast Asia” before students, professors and officials of the university. This included a brief profile of the Philippines, where the ambassador noted the shared history and culture of the two countries. She also highlighed the strong economic performance of the Philippines brought about by economic reforms and the government’s pursuit of good governance. She spoke on the country’s foreign trade situation with a focus on trade and investment relations between the Philippines and Argentina, citing the Philippines as an ideal gateway to Southeast Asia for Argentina and other Latin American countries. The Ambassador concluded her presentation with a video showing why “It’s More Fun in the Philippines.”
Dean Franchignoni granted Ambassador Aquino with a plaque of appreciation at the end of the event. END
