14 April 2015 - The members of the Philippine delegation to the 2015 Australian Political Exchange Council (AUSPOL) Program visited the Philippine Consulate General in Sydney on March 21 and were briefed by Philippine Consul General Anne Jalando-on Louis and Consul Marford Angeles on the functions and activities of the Consulate General and on the profile of the Filipino community in New South Wales (NSW).

The Philippine delegation was headed by Vice Governor Humerlito Dolor from the province of Oriental Mindoro, with the following local officials as members: Vice Mayor Johanna Corona of Tanauan City, Batangas Province; Councilor Kirk Asis of Bayugan City, Province of Agusan  del Sur; Councilor Ma. Lourdes Tumangan of Navotas City, Metro Manila, Board Member Ria Christina Farinas, Province of Ilocos Norte; Board Member Madelone Rengel of the Province of Bohol; and Mr. Karl Niccolo Atos of the Philippine Council of Young Leaders.

Consul General Louis cited how the local officials could share information with the Consulate General on projects, investment opportunities and entrepreneurial activities in their respective jurisdictions which Filipino-Australians could support.

 

The delegation was accompanied by AUSPOL  Executive Officer Suzy Domitrovic and Mr. AUSPOL Programme Officer Matthew Ryan during the visit to the Consulate General. AUSPOL was established in 1981 and is headed by the Parliamentary Leaders of the four main political parties in the Federal Parliament. The Council operates a system of political exchange visits to promote understanding of Australia and its political system. The group that visited the Consulate General is the 9th Philippine delegation to participate in the program. END
