16 April 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi joined the Philippine delegation to the 5th Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) which was held on March 30 to April 01 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The Philippine delegation to the AIM 2015 was led by Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary Ponciano C. Manalo, Jr. and was composed of officials from the Board of Investments (BOI); Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA); Clark Development Corporation (CDC); Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA); Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority (ZCSEZA); Local Government of Caloocan City; Quezon City Government; Local Government of Davao City; Davao City Investment Promotion Center; Mindanao Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Inc.; Rayo Illuminar Corporation; Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in Bangkok; and other agencies and companies.

Philippine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Grace Relucio Princesa delivered the opening remarks at the Country Presentation on the Philippines which was held at the exhibition area. Presentations were delivered by DTI Undersecretary Manalo, ZCSEZA Chairperson and Administrator Christopher Lawrence S. Arnuco, and MinDA Chairperson Luwalhati R. Antonino. 

For the first time, a Philippine Pavilion was set up at the AIM exhibition area attracting prospective investors to the Philippines. Members of the delegation were available to answer queries related to investing in the Philippines.

This year’s edition of AIM handed out investment awards to recognize the outstanding work of some of the world’s most effective investment promotion agencies. The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi proudly announces that DTI was among the awardees of the AIM 2015 Investment Awards. 

The Philippine delegation also met with government officials and businessmen in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, as arranged by the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in Dubai, to discuss investment opportunities in the Philippines.

Ambassador Princesa was joined by Philippine Consul General Frank R. Cimafranca, Commercial Counsellor Paisal D. Abdullah, Consul Ferdinand Flores, Vice Consul Rowena Pangilinan-Daquipil and Attaché Delza Lourdes D. Bayabao at the opening day of the AIM 2015. 

The AIM is organized annually by the UAE Ministry of Economy under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. This year’s theme is “Sustainable Development Through FDI Induced Innovation and Technology Transfer”.  END
