20 April 2015 – Venice City Government officials were joined by Philippine Consul General Marichu Mauro in the official opening of the Service Info Point on April 14 at the Chiesa Santa Maria dela Fava in Venice, Italy. Created through the vision of Fr. Luigi Ramazotti, Parish Priest of the Chiesa Santa Maria dela Fava and Chaplain of the Filipino community in Venice, the info point will serve as a resource center for Filipinos living in this northern Italian city to address their concerns relating to their dealings with various Italian authorities including civil administration and immigration.
The Service Info Point is also being manned by Filipino youth, most of whom are second-generation Filipinos born in Italy. The Philippine Consulate General hopes that by serving in the info point, these Filipino youth will remain in touch with their Filipino culture and heritage.
Consul General Mauro officially met the youth volunteers on April 13 to impress upon them the importance of their work in developing relations between the Philippines and Italy. She wished the project success and expressed her gratitude to the Italian authorities for their support for the project and acknowledged Fr. Ramazotti for all his hard work for the Filipino community. END
