20 April 2015 –Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Catalino R. Dilem, Jr. presented a Certificate of Recognition signed by Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert F. del Rosario to the Philippine Honorary Consul in Acapulco, Dr. Mario De la O Almazan, on April 16. The Certificate is conferred by the Department of Foreign Affairs as an acknowledgment of Consul De la O’s unwavering dedication to promote the interests of the Republic of the Philippines in the State of Guerrero, Mexico.
The ceremony held at the prestigious Yacht Club of Acapulco was attended by friends and relatives of Consul De la O. Also present were representatives from both the private and public sectors of the State of Guerrero, who, through the years, have helped him in carrying out his functions as Honorary Consul. The Filipino community was represented by Mr. Eulogio Alonzo Jr. and his daughter. The Ambassador acknowledged the presence of the attendees and thanked them for their contributions to the programs of the Philippine Government in Acapulco.
In Consul De la O’s acceptance speech, he shared the recognition bestowed on him with his spouse and with those who have assisted him in order to carry out his duties and responsibilities as Honorary Consul. As a demonstration of their support and as a tribute to Consul De la O, those present took turns in exalting his work and his contributions to furthering the relationship between the Philippines and Mexico. The Consul ended his speech by thanking Ambassador Dilem for his support as well as the interest he has shown in the City of Acapulco through the activities undertaken by the Embassy in the past years and in the years to come.
A crew from Televisa Mexico, headed by its field reporter Mr. Israel Ricardi, was present to cover the ceremony which was shown in the TV network’s regional daily evening news program. END
