20 April 2015 – Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Catalino R. Dilem, Jr. met with the Interim Municipal President of Acapulco City Luis Uruñuela Fey on April 15 at the Palacio Municipal located in Acapulco’s old district.

Ambassador Dilem was accompanied by Philippine Honorary Consul in Acapulco Dr. Mario De la O Almazan, his spouse Ms. Carolina Quevedo de De la O and Administrative Officer Bernardo Bagalay. Joining Municipal President Uruñuela were key government  officials of the city and members of the city council.

Ambassador Dilem presented a summary of the proposed economic, cultural and political diplomacy programs of the Philippine Embassy to  help promote the Philippines in Acapulco. President Uruñuela guaranteed the support and cooperation of his administration to ensure the success of the Embassy’s programs.  

The Philippine Ambassador noted that the Philippines and Mexico will always be linked by its common heritage and its shared identities. He reiterated that the Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade will always remain part of the histories of both countries and its people. He expressed hope that the existing strong bonds of friendship will continue to strengthen in the future. President Luis Uruñuela expressed agreement and said  that despite the physical distance, the Philippines remains very close to the hearts of the citizens of Acapulco.  END
