23 April 2015 - Cebu Pacific becomes the first Philippine carrier and low-cost carrier to have direct flights to Qatar as it launched its services to members of the media and travel agencies in Doha at the Wyndham Grand Regency Hotel on April 20.

Aside from Cebu Pacific officials, the Philippine Embassy in Doha’s Charge d’Affaires a.i. Gonaranao B. Musor and Cultural Attaché John Danilo G. Jiao, Jr. attended the launching, together with Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) Chief Tourism Operations Officer Francisco M. Lardizabal, and DOT Market Representative for the Middle East based in Dubai Chinthaka Bandara.

“Cebu Pacific’s presence in Qatar will not only benefit the more than 200,000 Filipinos in the country who can now avail of its affordable rates, but also be the Embassy’s partners in promoting Philippine tourism in Qatar. Both Qataris and the flourishing expat population in the country will now be enticed more to visit the Philippines. This should also inspire us to translate into more concrete projects the MOU on Tourism Cooperation between the Philippines and Qatar, which was signed in April 2012,” Charge d’Affaires Musor said.

Prior to this launch, Cebu Pacific hosted a get-together with the Filipino community on April 18, 2014 at the Movenpick Hotel Doha.

Cebu Pacific’s maiden flight from Manila to Doha will be on June 04 at 9:30 p.m., while the Doha-Manila flight will be on June 05 at 4:15 a.m. END
