29 April 2015 – The Crisis Management Team (CMT) of the Embassy of the Philippines in New Delhi met with Filipino community leaders, Pastor James Sarenas and Dr. Anil Shakya, yesterday at the Philippine Honorary Consulate General in Kathmandu. The CMT through the Embassy is now coordinating additional assistance and provisions for our kababayans in Nepal.

The CMT also confirmed that no Filipinos have been hurt during their initial visit to a football field-turned-evacuation ground and a local hospital.

The following are the updates concerning Filipinos affected by the earthquake in Nepal:

•Trekkers Jessica Ann Nicole F. Ramirez and Jose Francisco C. Oracion have departed Kathmandu via Silk Air MI 411 on April 27. They have reached Singapore at 2:11 a.m. (PHL Time) after a six-hour delay.

•Mountaineers Mendelson dela Cuesta and Edward Sampelo are safe, according to information received from their Nepalese sherpa. They will be descending Mt. Manaslu using another route.

•The Embassy has confirmed that Mt. Everest trekker Ma. Teresa Suratos and the rest of her travel group are unharmed. The group is now at Monjo and will proceed to Kathmandu on May 03. 

•The Philippine Embassy in New Delhi CMT assisted stranded Filipina tourist Hygeia Chi, who will depart Kathmandu for Kuala Lumpur via Air Asia this afternoon.   

The Embassy appreciates the continued cooperation of the Filipino community leaders in Nepal for their invaluable assistance during times of crisis.
