05 May 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in Madrid reported participated in a benefit diplomatic cultural show on April 27 at the Hotel InterContinental in Madrid. The event was organized by the Association of International Diplomats in Spain (AIDE), a non-profit organization composed of spouses of diplomats accredited to Spain. The organization’s honorary patron, Her Majesty, Queen Sofia, was present in the event.
The event was composed of a cultural presentation (dance and song numbers), a fashion show of national costumes, and a cocktail of typical dishes of participating embassies. The fashion show was unique in that Ambassadors and their spouses, as well as diplomats and their family members, served as the show’s models.
For the Philippines, no less than Ambassador Carlos C. Salinas and his spouse, Mrs. Isabelita T. Salinas, modelled elegant piña-made barong tagalog and terno by renowed Filipino artist and designer, Patis Tesoro.
Filipino puto and cassava cake were among the international dishes served during the cocktail.
The proceeds of the event are to be donated to Food Bank Madrid. END
