06 May 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh held a flag raising ceremony followed by a short program to celebrate Labor Day on May 01. This year’s theme, “Disenteng Trabaho at Kabuhayan, Alay natin sa Bayan," emphasized the link between quality of life and the employee’s working conditions.

The flag ceremony was led by Labor Attache Rustico M. Dela Fuente. Embassy officers and staff, headed by Philippine Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ezzedin H. Tago, were present, as well as other government attached agencies based in Riyadh.

During the short ceremony, Labor Attache Dela Fuente read Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz’ Labor Day message. In her message, Secretary Baldoz thanked all Filipino workers for supporting the Philippine Government’s project which aims to uplift and give a decent life each and every Filipino worker. This success has inspired the Department of Labor and Employment to continue providing more programs and services which will further elevate the quality of life of every Filipino family.

Philippine Minister and Consul General Marshall Louis M. Alferez read President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III’s message for Labor Day. The President stressed that amidst the growing Philippine economy and broadening opportunities, the Philippines remains focused on promoting the significant development of the country by forging a framework which will bring a brighter future for all Filipinos and ensure that they will have the capacity to be successful in their lives. The President also asked the cooperation of all Filipinos in order to overcome the obstacles and to achieve every Filipino’s dream of a good and decent life for their families.
