27 August 2013 - The John G. Shedd Aquarium recently launched its Adventures 2014 Program, including a two-week expedition for snorkeling, diving, kayaking and swimming around Dumaguete, Bohol, Cebu and Legaspi.

The Officers and staff of the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, led by Consul General Leo Herrera-Lim, paid a visit to the John G. Shedd Aquarium last August 20.  The Consulate General was invited by Ms. Cheryl Mell, Senior Vice President of the Shedd Aquarium.

Ms Mell and the Consulate General discussed collaboration in promoting the upcoming “Shedd Adventures 2014: Wild Reefs - and More” where she will be leading a delegation to the Philippines from February 12 to 26, 2014. 

The John G. Shedd Aquarium is a not-for-profit institution dedicated to public education and conservation. It cares for more than 32,500 animals representing nearly 1,500 species from around the world. It is situated on the shores of Lake Michigan and welcomes more than two million guests annually. 

Among the Aquarium’s more popular exhibits is the Wild Reef Exhibit.  The Wild Reef Exhibit features fish, corals and even fishermen’s tools and a kubo transported from Apo Island, the Philippines.  Ms. Mell also informed that additions to the exhibit are photographs from Danajon Bank, which is located off the northern coast of Bohol Island. The photo exhibit is co sponsored by the International League of Conservation Photographers and Project Seahorse, to support conservation in Philippine reefs.  END
