08 May 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in Doha participated in the first ever ASEAN Festival which kicked off on April 30 at the Katara Cultural Village.
The ASEAN festival was organized by the ASEAN Committee in Doha represented by seven ASEAN countries such Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei and Vietnam.
The festival, which showcased colorful cultural presentations, traditional music and diverse Asean cuisines, was intended to reflect the diverse cultures of the participating countries which is part of a multi-track diplomacy to promote a stronger relationship between ASEAN countries and Qatar.
Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Wilfredo C. Santos led the Philippine participation which showcased several cultural performances, as well as booths for tourism and traditional Filipino cuisines. The renowned Kaloob dance troupe captivated the huge crowd with its performance of the traditional dance "Singkil" and other folk dances.
The festival, which ran for three days, attracted an unusually heavy crowd at the cultural hub. END
