11 May 2015 - The Philippine Army and the Royal Thai Army laid down the framework for closer cooperation between them through the signing of the Terms of Reference (TOR) creating an Army-to-Army Steering Group on April 29 at the Royal Thai Army Headquarters in Bangkok. Philippine Army Chief Lieutenant General Hernando DCA Iriberri and his Royal Thai Army counterpart General Udomdej Sitabutr signed the TOR under the aegis of the 1997 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Military Cooperation between the Philippines and Thailand.
The TOR further operationalizes the 1997 MOU and, in particular, paves the way for the development of closer ties between the Philippine Army and the Royal Thai Army through the creation of an Army-to-Army Steering Group. The TOR also serves as a forum through which the two Armies can communicate, plan, and execute bilateral activities. Areas of cooperation as stated in the TOR include military education and training, exchanges of information, military exercises, bilateral sports-related military cooperation activities, exchange of visits, and other areas of mutual interest to both Armies.
