18 May 2015 - Dr. Dragan Nikolic was sworn in as the new Philippine Honorary Consul General of Podgorica, Montenegro on May 11 at the Philippine Embassy in Budapest, Hungary.  He is the first Philippine Honorary Consul in Montenegro.  Philippine Ambassador to Hungary Eleanor L. Jaucian administered the oath-taking, which was also witnessed by Dr. Nikolic’s wife, daughter and the Philippine Embassy Officers and staff.

Dr. Nikolic is a professor at the International University of Brcko-Faculty of Business and Civil Security. He is also a businessman and owner of Imperija/Empire Real Estate in Montenegro and Serbia. Dr. Nikolic will work under the jurisdiction of the Philippine Embassy in Budapest and open the Philippine Consulate General in Podgorica, Montenegro.

There are about 21 Filipino citizens living and working in Montenegro, particularly in the capital city of Podgorica and in the resort town of Budva which is along the Adriatic Sea.

Ambassador Jaucian briefed Dr. Nikolic on his duties and responsibilities as honorary consul.  She said that the opening of a Philippine Honorary Consulate General in Montenegro will establish Philippine representation in Montenegro and help strengthen bilateral relations by promoting the Philippines in Montenegro and provide assistance to nationals and consular services.  END
