19 May 2015 - The Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou conducted a Consular Outreach on May 16 at Shekou, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. The Consular Outreach was organized in coordination with the core members of Shenzhen-based Filipino community organization, Barangay China.
During the Consular Outreach a total of twenty-nine Filipinos registered for Overseas Absentee Voting. Forty-nine Filipinos applied for renewal of their passports while four collected their newly issued passports. Sixteen National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearances were processed, twenty-one Assistance-to-Nationals clients were served, eight Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) memberships were applied and fifteen Overseas Employment Certificates (OEC) were processed and issued.
The 97 Filipinos working and residing in Shekou, Futian, Nanshan and nearby districts attended and actively participated in the discussion on OWWA membership and OWWA programs and benefits which were conducted by Atty. Henry P. Tianero, Assistant Labor Attaché and Ms. Judith G. Santos, Welfare Officer of the Office of the Labor Attaché of Hong Kong SAR.
The Filipino community expressed their appreciation for the continued assistance and extension of Consular services by the Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou to the Filipinos based in Shenzhen. END
