abu dhabi lol21 May 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi extended support to Mr. Illac Angelo Diaz, Executive Director of Liter of Light and awardee of the 2015 Zayed Future Energy Prize for Non Profit Organization, who was invited to speak at the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on May 18.

In his presentation, Mr. Diaz shared how the Liter of Light has improved the lives of many Filipinos through the creation of sustainable solutions, building classrooms in rural areas using natural and recycled materials and making solar lanterns, providing lighting to homes in poor communities and to thousands of Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan victims.

He emphasized that the Liter of Light is a community-based night light solution. He also said that the Liter of Light is not a product, but rather a skills-building organization which teaches students and communities how to make solar lights using very simple technology and which shares that technology worldwide.

During the open forum, Mr. Diaz acknowledged the presence of Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Grace Relucio Princesa who he said was instrumental in his winning the ZFEP and is very supportive of his projects to create a global impact.
