26 May 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in Yangon conducted a two-day visioning and team building workshop, part of its program for Organizational Development and Institution Building (ODIB), from May  23 to 24 at the Royal Kaytumadi Hotel in Taungoo, Myanmar. 

In his opening speech, Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar Alex G. Chua said, “2016 is an important milestone for Philippines-Myanmar bilateral relations as both countries will celebrate 60 years of bilateral relations.” He expressed hope that the visioning and team building workshop will lead to a valuable work plan for 2016 to celebrate the 60 years of friendship with Myanmar. He added, “The activities for 2016 should also take into account the growing interest of Philippine companies in the fast developing Myanmar market and the increasing number of Filipinos residing and working in Myanmar.”

In preparation for a visioning exercise, Career Minister and Consul General Maria Lourdes M. Salcedo discussed the mission and vision, and priorities of the Department. She gave an overview on the Department of Foreign Affairs’ initiatives on the West Philippine Sea, ASEAN and APEC.

Third Secretary and Vice Consul Alan Roi Q. Gabriola reviewed the Embassy’s commitments for 2015. He likewise discussed the Embassy’s Office Performance Commitment Review Form (OPCRF), Annual Procurement Plan (APP) and Project Procurement Plan (PPMP) for 2015.

The visioning and team building workshop culminated with a brainstorming on the proposed Projects/Activities/Programs (PAPs) of the Embassy for 2016. It was facilitated by Administrative Officer Grace A. Clavecillas and Finance Officer Kristine P. Wong who also discussed the Embassy’s proposed budget for 2016. END
