26 May 2015 – The Philippine Embassy in Ankara conducted its second consular mission for 2015 in Baku, Azerbaijan on May 16.

The team composed of Philippine Minister and Consul General Robert O. Ferrer, Jr., Ms. Rowena Neri and Ms. Jackie Lou C. Ong, processed two applications for passport renewal, one application for lost valid passport, one acknowledgement of document, and 25 applications for voters’ registration/certifications. About 50 members of the Filipino community sought the assistance of the Embassy on issues pertaining to their condition with their respective employers and/or status of their stay in Azerbaijan.

On the sideline of the consular mission, Mr. Serhan Aktoprak, Officer-In-Charge of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Baku, Azerbaijan conducted a briefing to the Filipinos who were in attendance about the existing regulations of the Azerbaijani Government affecting migrant workers. He also attended to the inquiries raised by members of the Filipino community in Baku.

Immediately after the consular mission, the team proceeded to Mega Fun Entertainment Center of Yeni Hayat Plaza where the 5th Bowling Tournament of the Filipino community was held. On the sideline of the tournament, applications for overseas voters registrations continued therein.

Consul General Ferrer Jr. announced the winners and awarded them trophies and medals. He commended the Filipino Community for continuously organizing activities that promote camaraderie among Filipinos in Azerbaijan. END
