26 May 2015 – Philippine Vice Consul Jan Sherwin P. Wenceslao, together with the Philippine Liaison Officer (PLO) in Manado Commander Dario Yanto, Jr., PN (GSC) and the Philippine Consulate General in Manado’s translator Novia A. Lambey, paid a call on Bitung City Mayor Hanny Sondakh on May 06 at the Mayor’s Office, in order to discuss matters concerning Filipino nationals in Bitung City as well as Philippine investments in Eastern Indonesia.

The meeting was an opportunity to discuss the status of Filipino nationals in Bitung City, as well as potential projects by the Bitung City government in order to assist in the documentation of irregular and undocumented nationals in the Philippines-Indonesia border area. Likewise, the meeting discussed recent developments in Indonesian fisheries regulations that impact Philippine investments in Indonesia, in particular significant Philippine investments in the tuna processing and canning factories in Bitung City.
