27 May 2015 – San Juan City Mayor Guia Gomez paid a courtesy call on Philippine Consul General Leo Herrera-Lim at the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles on May 22.

Mayor Gomez led a delegation from the local government of San Juan on a two week study tour of several cities in the United States. The delegation visited Honolulu, San Francisco, Milpitas, Sacramento, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles. San Juan City has Sister-city ties with Milpitas and Santa Barbara in California.

The Consul General and the delegation had a productive discussion on housing development, environment and sports. On housing development Consul General Herrera-Lim encouraged the group to take advantage of the study tour to learn from the experience of cities it visited.  “Some of the cities in the U.S. have a housing development system that is of no cost to the government.” Mayor Gomez presented to Consul General Herrera-Lim a coffee table book on San Juan, highlighting the city as one that, according to Mayor Gomez, “sits at the heart of Metro Manila”.
