28 May 2015 - In line with its efforts to register more Filipinos as overseas voters, the Philippine Embassy in Athens conducted two “Akyat Barko” mobile registration missions at the Port of Piraeus.
The first "Akyat Barko" was conducted on May 18 on board the MV Oriana wherein 30 Filipino seafarers went for OV registration.
The second “Akyat Barko” was conducted on May 23 onboard the Costa NeoClassica wherein the Philippine Embassy processed 55 overseas voter registration applications and one application for reactivation.
The Philippine Embassy in Athens intends to conduct more missions in order to register more Filipino seafarers on board the different vessels docking at Piraeus Port. Most vessels carrying Filipino crew are passenger cruise ships sailing in the Mediterranean.
The Embassy was able to perform this task with the kind cooperation of the Piraeus Port Authorities and the human resources offices and agents of the said vessels. END
