03 June 2015 – The New Philippine Ambassador to Greece Nestor Z. Ochoa met with members of the Filipino Community (FilCom) in Athens at the Philippine Embassy’s Chancery on May 16.

 

In addition to members of the FilCom and the Philippine Embassy’s personnel, the meeting was also attended by the new Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Welfare Officer to Greece, Mrs. Rosalia Susana S. Bahia-Catapang; her new administrative assistant, Ms. Roselily A. Villanueva; and Pag-IBIG representative to Greece Ms. Jean V. Santos.

In his introductory remarks to the FilCom, Ambassador Ochoa underscored the Philippine Embassy’s commitment to promote the rights and protect the welfare of all Filipinos in Greece; the need for the FilCom to obey, respect and comply with the laws of Greece and to refrain from engaging in illegal and prohibited acts such as illegal gambling, illegal drug activities and human trafficking; and the need for FilCom’s support for the Philippine Embassy’s programs and activities, especially in the overseas voting registration.

Other topics discussed during the meeting were the iREHISTRO program of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the preparations for the Filipino Community’s 2015 Philippine Independence Day Celebration and updates from OWWA and Pag-IBIG. END
