04 June 2015 – Philippine Consul General Rosalita S. Prospero met with Director General (DG) Peter MacArthur, South, Southeast Asia and Oceania, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade on May 28. During their meeting, both officials acknowledged the highly successful state visit to Canada of President Benigno S. Aquino III on May 07 to 09. President Aquino’s visit firmed up the growing relations between the Philippines and Canada underlined by people-to-people contacts, the diaspora, cooperation on issues of common concern in various international fora and increasing bilateral political and economic exchanges. Both officials expressed continuing interest to move forward the economic cooperation between the two countries, noting that Canada has named the Philippines an “emerging priority market” and a “focus country” in its overseas development agenda.
