04 June 2015 - Three days after her assumption at the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto, Consul General Rosalita S. Prospero kickstarted her official work and met with Markham City Mayor Frank Scarpitti at the latter’s “Annual Lunch for Business and Trade” on May 27.

Consul General Prospero took the opportunity to convey to Mayor Scarpitti the Consulate General’s deep interest to continue its business partnership with the City of Markham in its efforts to advance commercial exchanges between the Philippines and Canada. Consul General Prospero also expressed appreciation and gratitude on behalf of the increasing number of Filipinos living and working in Markham (9,000 as of 2011 Census by Statistics Canada) and have made Markham their “home away from home.”

Markham City continues to be among the fastest-growing communities in the Greater Toronto Area and Hamilton Area. From July to August 2015, Markham will be hosting athletes from 41 countries to compete in this year’s Pan Am-Parapan Games.
