05 June 2015 – The Philippine Embassy in Pretoria, the Office of the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Cape Town headed by Consul, a.h. Steven Chaimowitz, together with the Filipino community led by Ms. Everly Cireneo held a “Food Fair & Fun Event Day in Aid of the Carmelites of Retreat” on May 02. The event sought to raise funds to assist the Carmelite sisters in small renovations of their convent.

To attract the public to the simple fundraising event, the Filipino community and Mr. Everly Cireneo took the occasion to showcase and promote Filipino cuisine.

Five of the Carmelite sisters in Cape Town are from the Philippines and have been part of the convent for several years now. END
