05 June 2015 - A National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) delegation, headed by Commissioner Edilwasif T. Baddiri, visited Brunei Darussalam on May 29 to 30 to meet with their counterpart agencies on possible cooperation in the Halal Industry.

The delegation paid a courtesy call on Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Meynardo LB. Montealegre on May 29 at the Chancery.

On May 30, the delegation, together with Ambassador Montealegre and other Embassy officials, separately met with Ministry of Religious Affairs (MORA) and Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources (MIPR) officials.

The delegation and MORA officials agreed to further study possible areas of cooperation in halal-certification procedures. On the other hand, the delegation and MIPR officials agreed to study the proposal of sourcing raw materials from the Philippines for Brunei’s BioInnovation Corridor or its halal program.

After the meeting with MIPR officials, the NCMF delegation was toured at Brunei’s BioInnovation Corridor site in Kampong Tungku. END
