09 June 2015 – Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Wilfredo C. Santos, together with Cebu Pacific’s General Manager for Long Haul Division Alex Reyes, and Hamad International Airport’s Vice President for Commercial Abdulaziz Abdulla Al-Mass launched the maiden flight of Cebu Pacific’s non-stop Doha-Manila flight last June 05, which departed at 4:15 a.m.

Included among the passengers are 31 distressed Filipinos under the temporary care of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO). Cebu Pacific sponsored 100 tickets for the repatriation of these distressed Filipinos to the Philippines. The Embassy and POLO are hoping to offer the remaining tickets to other distressed Filipinos in Qatar within this month.

Ambassador Santos thanked Cebu Pacific for its generosity in helping to bring our kababayans back to the Philippines to be finally reunited with their loved ones. “Congratulations to Cebu Pacific for becoming the first Philippine carrier and low-cost carrier to have direct flights to Qatar. This is something that will truly benefit the estimated 200,000 Filipinos in Qatar,” he added.

Cebu Pacific has twice weekly non-stop flights between Manila and Doha. END
