09 June 2015 – The Philippines-Indonesia Border Crossing Committee Coordinated Patrol Exercises (CORPAT PHILINDO XXIX-15) held its closing ceremony in Manado and Bitung Cities from May 27 to 31.
The Philippine Consulate General in Manado led by Consul General Oscar G. Orcine assisted the ninety-five (95) officers and enlisted personnel of the Philippine Navy, Army, and Marines of the Philippine delegation, led by Commodore Rafael G. Mariano O-8957, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP); Brigadier General Alexander F. Balutan O-8819, AFP; and Captain Socrates M. Dazao 11225, Philippine Navy (GSC) of Philippine vessel BRP Cebu (PS28), which participated in the coordinated patrol of the Philippines-Indonesia Maritime Border.
During the course of the CORPAT, the Philippine delegation paid a courtesy call on Consul General Oscar G. Orcine at the Consulate General and discussed measures to strengthen the annual Philippines-Indonesia Border Crossing activities towards closer cooperation and coordination in border security between the Philippine and Indonesian Navies. Other matters were also discussed, including border trade and security issues. The Consulate General also hosted a lunch for the CORPAT delegation at Puncak Manado restaurant on May 29.
The CORPAT PHILINDO is a biennial activity at sea by the Philippine and Indonesian navies which includes drills on anti-smuggling, anti-terrorism, anti-human trafficking, protection of marine life, rescue, and disaster response. END
