09 June 2015 – The Philippine Embassy in Warsaw joined the parishioners of the St. Dominic’s Church in Warsaw, Poland during its 17thJarmark” activity on May 31.

Philippine dances such as the Tinikling, Cariñosa, and Pandanggo sa Ilaw were highlighted during the event’s program.  Locals took turns in trying out the Tinikling.

A children’s corner also featured the Philippine game Pabitin which was an instant hit with the children.

The Embassy distributed tourism brochures and gave samples of Philippine mango balls.

Close to a thousand people visited the church grounds during the event which featured booths selling Polish handicrafts, food, and knickknacks. A charity flea market also sold donated items such as old paintings, books, clothes, toys and kitchen appliances and furniture.

The “Jarmark” is a yearly activity of the St. Dominic’s Church which began 17 years ago as a family event for its parishioners.  Its merriment activities are reminiscent of Philippine fiestas.

According to the organizers, the Philippines is only the second country that was highlighted in the Jarmark’s 17-year history after Brazil which was featured two years ago. END
