15 June 2015 - Philippine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Grace Relucio Princesa presented to the Director-General her credentials as the Philippine Permanent Representative to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). The credentials ceremony was held on June 08 at the IRENA’s newly-inaugurated headquarters in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi.
IRENA Director-General Adnan Z. Amin held talks with Ambassador Princesa prior to the ceremony. The undersigned was accompanied by Vice Consul Rowena Pangilinan-Daquipil and Attaché Delza Lourdes D. Bayabao. Filipino personnel of the IRENA also showed support and extended their congratulations to the Ambassador.
The Philippines is a signatory to the Statement of Interest on the Global Renewable Energy Atlas and is one of the founding members of the Global Geothermal Alliance (GGA) that is supported by IRENA. Every year, the Philippine delegation – composed of officials of the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Philippine Department of Energy – attends the IRENA General Assembly and Council Meetings being held in Abu Dhabi.
IRENA is an intergovernmental organization that supports countries in their transition to a sustainable energy future, and serves as the principal platform for international cooperation, a center of excellence, and a repository of policy, technology, resource and financial knowledge on renewable energy. Currently, it has 140 Members, including the Philippines, with 32 states in accession. There are now 30 accredited Permanent Representatives to IRENA. END
