30 August 2013 - The Filipino Bowlers Club, Singapore (FBCS) organized the 2013 Ambassador’s Cup on August 18 at the Super Bowl at SAFRA Mt. Faber, bringing together 33 teams from the various Filipino organizations and companies in Singapore. Several Singaporean and other foreign bowlers were also among the participants.
The Philippine Embassy and Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Singapore fielded two teams in the friendly tournament. Ambassador Minda Calaguian-Cruz, Labor Attaché Vicente Cabe, and FBCS President Vhon Montefrio, opened the tournament with a ceremonial roll-off.
After four games, the team from the Association of Mapua Alumni (Singapore), or SAMA, was declared the champion, followed by FABS1, PinKillers, Speedball and Simply D’Best 1.
Apart from bringing the community together for hours of fun and fellowship, the Ambassador’s Cup raised a total of SGD 3,500 (around Php 122,000) for the Flip-Flop Project of the St. Theresa’s College Quezon City Alumnae Association, which aims to provide footwear to Philippine school children who have to walk to school barefoot or without adequate footwear.
