17 June 2015 - In line with its advocacy of empowering women by raising awareness, the Philippine Consulate General in Milan conducted another one of its series of Cancer Awareness seminars at the Philippine Consulate Conference Hall on May 28. The seminar was organized in collaboration with Tavolo Donne e Culturadel Forum Citta Mondo supported by the City Government of Milan.

Consul General Marichu Mauro, in her opening remarks, emphasized the importance of knowledge about cancer prevention in order to continue living healthy and productive lives.  Around 40 leaders and members of various Filipino associations attended the seminar.

The resource speaker, Dr. Claudio Andreoli, oncologist and breast specialist from Rozzano Hospital in Milan, discussed the primary prevention, diagnosis, surgery and treatment of the different types of cancer. In the data that he presented, the Philippines has the highest incidence of breast cancer in Asia.

During the Q&A, participants had the opportunity to ask Dr. Andreoli regarding specific questions and issues on cancer risks and prevention. END
