29 June 2015 - Philippine Consul General to Toronto Rosalita S. Prospero attended the Reception on June 23 hosted by Toronto City Mayor John Tory for members of the Consular Corps in Toronto. In his brief remarks, Mayor Toronto warmly welcomed all Consuls General and consular representatives and stressed his deep interest to nurture political, economic and cultural relations with their respective countries, which are also the countries of origin of almost 50% of Toronto’s immigrant population.

In her brief meeting with Mayor Tory, Consul General Prospero and the Mayor discussed the highly successful visit of President Aquino, the prospects of strengthening economic relations and the dynamic and vibrant Filipino Community in Toronto. The reception was preceded by a presentation by the City’s General Manager for Economic Development and Culture Michael Williams on Toronto’s economic updates, citing Toronto as a “global city” in view of its connectivity with the world in terms of quality of life, market access, competitiveness and world class talent, among others. Mr. Williams also stated that more than 50% of Toronto’s populations were not born in Canada. END
