29 June 2015 – Philippine Consul General to Agana Marciano R. de Borja travelled to the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) to attend the Independence Day celebrations of the Filipino communities in Pohnpei and Chuuk. The Consulate General of the Philippines in Agana, Guam has consular jurisdiction over the FSM.

On June 21, Consul General de Borja, together with Philippine Honorary Consul Dr. Merlynn Abello-Alfonso, attended the celebration organized by the United Filipino Community in Pohnpei (UFCP). Seated with Consul General de Borja was U.S. Ambassador to FSM Doria Rosen. The occasion, which was held at the Multi-Purpose Gymnasium of the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School in Pohnpei, was also attended by diplomatic representatives from Japan, Australia and China.

During his visit to Pohnpei, Consul General de Borja also met with the Honorable Yosiwo Palikkun George on  June 23, who won elections earlier this year and was sworn in to become the 8th elected Vice President of FSM on  May 11.

On June 24, Consul General de Borja and Honorary Consul Alfonso also flew to Chuuk to attend the Independence Day celebration there hosted by the Kapatiran ng mga Pilipino sa Isla ng Truk (KAPIT) at the Trukstop Hotel in Chuuk, FSM. END
