30 June 2015 – In solidarity with the Filipino community in Timor-Leste, the Philippine Embassy in Dili participated in the opening ceremonies of the Filipino Sports Fest organized by the Association of Filipinos in East Timor (AFET) last June 21.

In her remarks, Philippine Ambassador to Timor-Leste María Aileen H. Bugarín commended the AFET Governing Board, under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Resuena, for holding the event that promotes greater camaraderie and esprit de corps among the members of the growing Filipino community in Timor-Leste.

The Sports Fest will be a two-month weekend event with competitions in basketball, volleyball and badminton.

At the opening ceremony, winners were declared for best uniform, best group performance and most popular escort and muse. END
