30 June The Philippine Consulate General, in collaboration with the Philippine Association Hong Kong (PAHK) and the Filipino Community, held the second Kapangyawan Friendship Festival on June 14 at Chater Road, Central.
The event was in celebration of the 117th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence. Kapangyawan is derived from the Chinese word “pangyao” meaning friend to celebrate Philippines-Hong Kong friendship.
The event commenced with an Interfaith Program followed by a Catholic Mass officiated by Cardinal John Tong Hon.
Kapangyawan was highlighted by a parade of Philippine flags and an all-day cultural program featuring Philippine festival street dancing and traditional dances performed by various Filipino Community organizations, as follows:

2. Mindanao Hongkong Workers Federation (Pagapir)
3. Ifugao Association (Warrior Dance)
4. AbanteCagayanos Hong Kong (Binuyugan)
5. Migrant Ilonggo Association International (Sayaw sa Cuyo)
6. Filipino Image Society (Kalapati)
7. Dynamic Overseas Migrant Organization - Hong Kong (Cariñosa)
8. Philippine Folk Dance Society and Performing Arts (La Jota Moncadeña)
9. Section Juan (Maglalatik, Subli and Sakuting)
10. PCADE Tinikling Chapter (Tinikling)
11. Luzon Alliance (Panagbenga)
12. Visayas Alliance (Ati-Atihan)
13. Mindanao Migrants Alliance (Kaamulan)
Filipino artists from the Philippines also performed during the event, namely: Vina Morales, K Brosas and Tom Rodriguez.
As tribute to the Philippines-Hong Kong friendship, the Hong Kong Police Band also participated in the cultural show which earned loud cheers from the crowd. END
