30 June 2015 - The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong SAR, in cooperation with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), organized “Kababaihan: A Forum on Women’s Rights, Projects and Programs in the Philippines” on June 07, at the Consulate General’s Conference Room.
DSWD Undersecretaries ParisyaHashim-Taradji and Angelita Y. Gregorio-Medelpropounded on selected provisions of R.A. 9710, Magna Carta of Women, that specifically affect migrant workers, and tied these up with programs and projects of DWSD that may be availed of by women and their beneficiaries in the Philippines.
More than 60 participants took part in the Forum and actively engaged in the Question and Answer session after the DSWD presentation. Majority of the questions revolved around acquiring support from estranged husbands and custody of minor children in the Philippines.
The Forum was organized under the auspices of the Consulate General’s Gender and Development (GAD) program. END
