Honolulu  visit of joint POW MIA1

02 September 2013 – Philippine Consul General in Honolulu Julius D. Torres visited the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC), Joint Base Pearl Harbor, Hickam, Hawaii on August 28 upon the invitation of JPAC Commander, Maj. Gen Kelly McKeague.

After a short briefing by the Commander, the Consul General had the pleasure to have a tour of the facilities/laboratories of the JPAC.Honolulu  visit of joint POW MIA2

The Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command’s mission is to conduct global search, recovery and laboratory operatons to identify unaccounted-for Americans from past conflicts in order to support the U.S. Department of Defense’s personnel accounting efforts.

The Command is located on the island of Oahu and was activated on 01 October 2003. Employing more than 400 joint military and civilian personnel, JPAC continues its search for more than 83,000 Americans still missing from past conflicts.

The laboratory portion of JPAC, referred to as the Central Identification Laboratory, is the largest and most diverse forensic skeletal laboratory in the world.

The Consul General was accompanied by Col Restituto Padilla, AFP Liaison to the U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM), Consul Roberto Bernardo and members of the Filipino-American media. END
