03 July 2015 - Philippine Ambassador and Permanent Delegate to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro chaired a Group of 77 and China Plenary Meeting on June 17 at UNESCO headquarters.
Officials from the Secretariat, Dr. Quian Tang, Assistant Director-General for Education; and Mr. Han Qunli, Director for the Division of Ecological and Earth Sciences and Secretary of the Man and the Biosphere Programme, were invited to discuss the outcomes of the recently concluded World Education Forum and the 27th session of the MAB International Coordination Council, respectively.
World Heritage Centre Director Kishore Rao, was also invited to discuss the 39th session of the World Heritage Committee which will be held from June 28 to July 08 in Bonn, Germany.
Ambassador Lazaro reaffirmed that the G77 and China will continue to engage in dialogues with the UNESCO Secretariat to strengthen relations and to ensure a successful celebration of the 70th anniversary of UNESCO this year. END
