08 July 2015 – Philippine Consul General Rosalita S. Prospero gave a briefing in the City of Saskatoon, Province of Saskatchewan on June 29, on the current status and favorable investment climate of the Philippine economy and the priority sectors for investment. She underscored the Philippines’ undertaking of critical economic and good governance reforms to improve its global economic standing. She mentioned that the growth, driven by the strong performance of the services sector, domestic consumer spending, and remittances from overseas Filipinos is a manifestation of the administration’s strong political will. 

On June 30, the Consul General paid a courtesy call on Saskatoon Mayor Donald J. Atchison. Consul General Prospero took the opportunity to promote the forthcoming Winter Escapade in February 2016 and to thank the Mayor for the warm reception and high regard the City of Saskatoon affords Philippine foreign workers and migrants. The Mayor emphasized that Filipinos are a boon to Saskatoon and its economy and hopes that more Filipinos would come to his city.

On the same day, Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority (SREDA) Executive Vice President Mr. Gauthier gave a briefing on the goals and programs of SREDA. Mr. Ziegler of the Greater Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce envisions SREDA as a partner in finding opportunities to increase bilateral trade and investment ties between the Philippines and Saskatchewan.
