13 July 2015 - In conjunction with the celebration of the 117th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence, the Philippine Embassy in Santiago sent a mobile consular team to Lima, Peru to render consular services to Filipinos living in Peru and visit Filipinos detained in different facilities in Lima.
Vice Consul Raisa Mabayo, Ferlina Camento and Jeany Macadangdang comprised the consular team from the Embassy.
A member of the team visited several Filipinos in three detainment facilities in Lima on June 18 to 19, while the whole team conducted its consular mission on June 20-21 at the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Lima, located in Miraflores district.
A good number of Filipinos availed of the services, all of whom expressed appreciation for the initiative of Philippine Ambassador to Chile Maria Consuelo Puyat Reyes to regularly send mobile consular missions to its areas of jurisdiction. They also expressed appreciation for the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Lima led by former Vice President of Peru Raul Diez Canseco, for its tireless service to Filipinos in Peru.
The event was also an opportunity for the Filipino Community in Peru, comprised mostly of missionaries and spouses of foreign nationals, to catch up with Filipinos based in Lima and other parts of the country. END
